Superchips’ Driver Jesse Haines Takes Rock Crawling to New Level

Rock crawling is always fun to watch and Superchips’ driver Jesse Haines sure knows how to put on a show. At round one of the 2017 Idaho X Rocks series Jesse Haines—professional rock crawler and Superchips sponsored driver—did something that may never have been done before. He drove two different cars, in two different classes, and won with both of them! Although Haines has had consistent success with his Unlimited class car, Prickle, he had not competed in his Pro Mod car since 2015. After some recent updates to the car, Haines decided to get behind the wheel of Pokey for a few events this year.

Rock Crawling in Idaho, Jesse Haines Captures the Win for Superchips

The team jumped out to a lead in both classes and never looked back, finishing all of their 16 courses throughout the weekend.

In less than three weeks, Haines will be back in action at round two of the WE Rock western series in Cedar City, UT. Haines will be driving in Unlimited while Robb Kaufmann pilots the Pro Mod car.   Superchips wishes Jesse and Robb the best of  luck for the 2017 Season.

Each event starts on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with the National Anthem. The competitors, ready for serious rock crawling, are lined up and ready to start on multiple obstacles at the same time. There are typically eight courses available to begin. The courses labeled A are for the professional classes, the courses labeled C are for the sportsman classes. You will be see all kinds of vehicles on each course.

Each competitor will complete four courses on Saturday and four courses on Sunday. The best professionals will move in to the Shootout course on Sunday afternoon to determine who the winners of the weekend are.

Courses are designed to be completed in ten minutes or less. If a driver fails to complete in ten minutes, they will receive points only for their progressive gates. Each course generally has elevation changes, crack lines, cone placements and other obstacles designed to challenge the drivers and spotters.  Rock crawling is an exciting sport and WE Rock delivers and experience unlike anything else.

Team Superchips Wins National Title and Runner Up

Team Superchips Pro Mod driver, Jake Hallenbeck, came from behind to win the WE Rock Grand Nationals in Farmington last weekend. In the Unlimited class. Jesse Haines lost another tight battle with rock crawling legend, Tracy Jordan, and finished 2nd in the 13 car field.

After a mechanical issue shut his car down on his last course of day 1, Hallenbeck lost the solid lead he had over the pro mod class. He went into day 2 with a 13 point deficit to overcome. Hallenbeck chipped away at the lead with each run, but going into the last course still trailed by 12. On the final course, Hallenbeck dominated the course and finished with an 8 point win!

In the Unlimited class, Jesse Haines finished day 1 only 3 points out of the lead. Day 2 started out with 2 great runs that kept the pressure on the first place team. On the 3rd course, Haines took a risky bonus that would have moved him into the lead. Unfortunately, the gamble didn’t pay off and resulted in a rollover. Although it took him out of contention for the win, Haines was still able to hold onto 2nd place.

See both Superchips cars in action again at Supercrawl, September 24-25 in Reno, NV.

Team Superchips Finishes 2nd in WE Rock Western Series

Team Superchips Finishes 2nd in WE Rock Western Series

The Broken Boulder Ranch in Goldendale, WA was the site for a weekend long battle for the WE Rock Western Series Championship. After multiple lead changes, Team Superchips driver, Jesse Haines, finished just 6 points behind eventual champion, Tracy Jordan. Haines said -“We were able to put on a great show for some of the best rock crawling fans in the country. It was a successful weekend even if we didn’t take 1st place.”

The win allowed Jordan to win the series championship, while Haines took 2nd in the 4 event series.

On August 20-21, Team Superchips will be in Nampa, ID for the Idaho X Rocks finals. Three weeks later, the nation’s top teams will be in Farmington, NM for the WE Rock Grand Nationals.

Team Superchips Takes 2nd in Unlimited, 1st in Pro Mod at WE Rock

Last weekend, the top pro rock crawlers west of the Mississippi met in Norden, CA for round 3 of the WE Rock western series. With one of the biggest pro fields in many years, WE Rock turned up the heat and set some brutal courses to put teams to the test.

Coming off a big win at the last event, Jesse Haines was hoping to make this 2 in a row. That looked like a good possibility until the end of the last course of day 1. A pinched wire shorted out the electrical system on Haines car, and caused a very costly DNF. The team battled back on day 2 and nearly pulled off a huge comeback. It came down to the last run of the shootout, but Haines would have to settle for 2nd place this time.

After a 10 year absence from the sport, Jake Hallenbeck returned to drive the Team Superchips pro mod owned by Jesse Haines. In his first time competing in pro mod class, Hallenbeck won in a land slide. Many of his competitors fell to mechanical issues and rollovers, but Hallenbeck lead start to finish to take the win.

Team Superchips Wins in Cedar City, UT!

After a rush to get his new Team Superchips crawler ready for the first round of the WE Rock Western Series, Jesse Haines had some time to get the car dialed in before round two. His efforts paid off, and Haines pulled off a near perfect event at WE Rock in Cedar City, UT.

I’ve been working on the car and practicing as much as I can, and clearly it paid off for us this weekend!” said Haines after the event.

Jesse was working with a new spotter, Cody Folsom, but the pair worked great together, only making a few minor mistakes throughout the weekend. Team Superchips finished 1st out of 13 in the unlimited class, taking the win by 53 points. Awesome effort!

The next stop for Haines is the Old School Rock Crawl in Delta, UT, May 27-28.

Team Superchips Debuts Highly Anticipated New Crawler at WE Rock in Congress, AZ

Team Superchips driver, Jesse Haines, debuted his ground breaking new unlimited class rock crawler this past weekend at the WE Rock competition in Congress, AZ. The new car, named Prickle, was built in less than two months and showed up to the Western Series opener with virtually no test time. Unfortunately, Prickle fought a handful of engine related issues throughout the event. Haines and spotter, Mike Berard did their best with what they had to work with, but finished the weekend 9th in the 14 team unlimited class.

In addition to driving his new car, Haines put veteran rock crawler, Jake Hallenbeck, in the driver seat of his other car, Pokey. Hallenbeck was also competing in the unlimited class this past weekend. He too suffered mechanical issues that ended his weekend early, leaving him in 11th place.

Haines will be back in competition action again next month, April 15th-17th, at the Australian Tuff Truck Challenge. After a 4th place finish there last year, Haines is hoping to become the first American to win Australia’s premier rock crawling event.

Superchips Announces Title Sponsorship of Off Road Driver, Jesse Haines!

Today Superchips officially announced their title sponsorship of Jesse Haines and his off road program for the 2015 season.  Jesse has been competing in professional rock crawling competitions since 2003, when he attended his first event as a spotter. Since that day, his life has been dedicated to all things rock sports. As a competitor, he has had over a dozen event wins, multiple series championships, and a national championship. As a racer, he has raced in 6 King of the Hammers races, racked up multiple Ultra 4 podium finishes, and numerous top ten finishes. As a fabricator, he built several cars that have won dozens of events from UROC, WE Rock, CalROCS, and Ultra 4.

Jesse is an enthusiast in every aspect.  With a tremendous appreciate and understanding of the automotive aftermarket, Haines is well suited to represent the Superchips brand on and off the competition circuit.  Many followers within the off road community are excited to see Jesse officially re-entering the sport after some time off.  Few are more passionate or more involved in this industry. Since his start in the sport, Jesse has worked to develop a significant online presence through off-road forums and social media by allowing fans to follow the build of his buggies and sharing stories from his competitions. This has helped him to create an international following. He is currently sponsoring a car in Ultra 4 Europe, a car in WE Rock/Tuff Truck Australia, and previously had a car competing in Italy’s WTI series.

Superchips is excited for the 2015 season.  Make sure you visit Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for updates regarding Jesse’s events, results, and carnage on the rocks.
